Meet The Team

Mark acquired operations of Gunder Associates in 2009 and possesses over 20 years in the HVAC industry. He has a passion for growing the business and becoming a partner of choice with our manufacturers. Mark is an avid Red Raider who enjoys the outdoors and lake life. Mark is a passionate family man that is tremendously proud of his two daughters.

Robert joined Gunder Associates in 2007 managing the South Texas Sales territory. He earned his BA in Marketing from Texas State and has over 20 years in the HVAC industry. He has a passion for building strong relationships with our partners and providing innovative solutions to our customers. Outside of the office, Robert enjoys golf, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Sales Managers

Matt Jones splits the DFW market with Raquel Webster. Matt has been involved in the HVAC industry for over 13 years and now over seven with Gunder Associates. Matt enjoys playing golf and traveling with his wife Amy and daughter Olivia.

Raquel Webster splits the Dallas territory by customer with Matt Jones. She also covers Tyler, Longview and Shreveport. She is a Texas Tech graduate and has an MBA from Texas Woman’s University. She has over 10 years of industry experience; the majority has been working on plan and spec construction projects. Raquel has been with Gunder since 2019. She loves to exercise, cook and spend time with her family.

Daniel Rangel is based in Austin and covers part of our South Texas territory. Daniel brings a unique and valuable skillset to our team, as he’s been on both the wholesale and contracting sides of the industry. With plenty of hands-on product knowledge, he is an invaluable resource to our customers and manufacturers. Daniel is married to his high school sweetheart and enjoys camping and watching movies with his wife and children.

Larry Newbury covers the South Texas region from San Marcos down to Corpus Christi and from Kerrville to Victoria. He has been in the HVAC industry most of his life, starting with his family’s contracting business at the tender age of 12. Since 1987, he’s been immersed in the distribution side and has extensive experience as a branch manager and as a territory sales manager. He and his wife Chrissy have been married for 33 years and have two children in their 20’s. Larry enjoys fishing and golf, and he and his wife love to travel together.

Matt Hoover splits the Houston market with Marty Rusnak. Matt has been involved in the HVAC industry for over 20 years, including time with two different manufacturers and now over nine with Gunder Associates. Matt enjoys playing golf, traveling with his wife Summer and spending time with family and friends.

Marty Rusnak splits the Houston territory by customer with Matt Hoover. Marty graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a BS in mechanical engineering and was a submarine officer on active duty in the navy. He just recently retired from the Navy Reserve with over 29 yrs. of combined active duty and reserve service. He has an MS in Business Management. Marty has been in the HVAC industry since 2005, with regional and national sales experience at various manufacturers, and he has been a member of the Gunder team since 2016. Marty loves to travel, enjoys golfing, and is an avid sports fan.

Freddy Martinez covers West Texas, El Paso, New Mexico and a sliver of Colorado. Freddy has been involved in the HVAC industry for over 20 years. He is a proud alum of Texas Tech University and supports all Texas Tech sporting events. He is blessed to be married to Heather, his high school sweetheart, for over 25 years, and is a proud father to his twins, daughter Bailey and son Bryce. Freddy enjoys traveling with his wife, and both have a bucket list of visiting every major league baseball park.

Bryan Moates is the State of Oklahoma Territory Manager for Gunder Associates and has serviced this territory for more than 20 years. Bryan loves the outdoors and is an avid fisherman.

Chris Gazaway covers Arkansas, Texarkana, (Texas), Western Tennessee and Mississippi. Chris has an MBA and B.S., plus 19 years’ industry experience as a contractor, wholesaler and factory sales representative, and five years with Gunder Associates. He greatly enjoys hiking with his wife and kids and spoiling his granddaughter.

Willie Mayes covers the state of Louisiana, parts of East Texas and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Willie is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where he received his BBA in Economics. Willie has worked on the contractor, wholesaler and manufacturer’s representative sides of the HVAC industry for over 20 years. He loves to spend time with his wife Betsy, daughter Maggie and son Harper. Hunting, fishing and kids sports are where you’ll find him on the weekends. He has been with Gunder Associates since 2012.

Peter Kardos covers Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah. He holds a BA from Western Colorado State University in Business Administration and joined Gunder Associates in 2023. He has worked in the plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC industry for over 20 years, with experience in the distributor, manufacturer, and contractor side of the business. Peter spends his leisure time skiing, biking, and golfing with his wife Brooke, and twin boys Max and Sam.

Jim Snell covers the Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi regions. He has been in the HVAC industry for over 20 years. Jim holds a current HVAC license in the state of Alabama and is also a licensed CE instructor for the state of Alabama. Jim is an alumnus of Wallace State Community College and currently serves on their board of HVAC advisors. Jim comes from the contractor side of the industry and has worked as a rep for over 7 years in this territory. Jim’s passion is restoring classic trucks, especially 1960s model Chevrolets. He also enjoys riding Harleys and traveling with his wife.

Brent Merchant covers all territories and is a member of our Product Specialist team. He provides skilled technical support and training to our distributors and contractors. Brent attended Texas State Technical College and has 28 years of technical experience in the HVAC industry, including service and installations in the residential and commercial sectors. Brent’s hobbies include playing musical instruments, camping, fishing, hiking and spending quality time with his family.

Terry Shrum covers all territories and is a member of our Product Specialists team. He provides skilled technical support and training to our distributors and contractors. He is an OSU Institute of Technology alum and holds an active mechanical contractor license. With 38 years of technical experience in the HVAC industry, Terry is a valuable resource. He and his wife, Debra, enjoy traveling, spending time with friends and with their Westies.

Sales Support – Applied

David Clifton works in the Carrollton office and primarily supports the sales team with Gunder’s applied and engineered products. He is a mechanical engineer who has been working in the HVAC industry since 2015. David joined the Gunder team in 2017. David enjoys travelling, hunting, and fishing.
